“His prognosis is reserved” – that’s what Doctor Jorge Hidalgo told us this evening about his patient Dwain Davis who is on life support at the intensive care unit of the Karl Heusner Memorial.

Hidalgo told us that Davis experienced a “hemorrhagic stroke due to a hypertensive crisis.” He explains that Davis was a hypertensive patient and his blood pressure was very high. He added that with a hemorrhagic stroke the problem is that the bleeding is in a very delicate location in the brain, close to most important functions in the brain. Hidalgo told us he is under sedation and attached to a ventilator. He will remain on the ventilator for the next 48 hours and at that point, he will be assessed by a neurologist.

Davis experienced the stroke yesterday after he appeared in court to for an adjournment hearing for 24 criminal charges for alleged wrongdoing during his time as financial controller. According to reports he left the court, walked to his car, and collapsed when he got in.

Davis was recently fired from that post by a resolution of the council, a resolution which did not have the Mayor’s support.
