How The Cops Caught Robbers

Last night, we told you how the Eastern Division Strike Team caught a car load of robbers who had just pulled off an armed robbery at a Chinese Store on Albert Hoy Street in Belama Phase 3. The police caught 4 men in a GEO Prizm on Coney Drive, and also got the stolen loot totaling $741.00 dollars and a loaded 38 revolver.

Today, police have released the details of how it unfolded. It was due to the quick thinking of one of the young members of Chinese Family, which led to quick police intervention. Today, the Public Relations Officer for Eastern Division explained how it all happened:

"About 3:50pm yesterday we had a robbery in Belama Phase 3. A 19 year old Chinese student reported that while in their shop at the same vicinity, 3 male persons went to them and demanded cash. One of the male person presented a chrome handgun and the other person went behind the cashier and basically took over seven hundred plus dollars out of the cash pan. Quick response by the police basically apprehended a green Geo Prizm car and basically while searching the car they also found the money in bag and also the chrome handgun. These persons who were in the vehicle was one James Swazo, 39 years old construction worker of Gill Street. Also one Burton Claire, 20 years old and Kyle Carter, 18 years old. These persons are detained right now and awaiting their charges."

"The process usually are when these person are detained definitely the identification parade will take process as part of the investigation and basically put together the terms of file and charge the personand proceed to court."

"In terms of the recent crimes situation, the Eastern Division have develop strike teams in all the precincts and the strike teams specifically looks at quick responses when it comes to crime and that is basically I can say in terms of the quick response team."

"Of course trained police officers and those who are experience in terms of the work. What we have done is to look within all the precincts, we select the best of the best when it comes to investigations and when it comes to the process of crime situation these police officers are those within the quick response."

So, again, the men who the police detained were being driven by 39 year-old James Swazo, a construction worker from Gill Street. You may recognize him as the Chainsaw Man, a UDP street soldier, who has pleaded guilty to impersonating Minister Michael Finnegan to solicit funds from business persons.

He was driving the vehicle, and 18 year old Kyle Carter and brothers, 20 year old Burton Claire and 19 year old Javan Claire from Iguana Street.

Today, they were only charged with firearm and ammunition offences when they appeared before Magistrate Herbert Panton. They were charged for a .38 revolver and 4 rounds of ammunition. They pled not guilty to the charges and they were remanded until December 19.

According to reports, they will be charged with robbery when they are brought back to court on Monday November 3. The incident occurred around 3:50 p.m.
