Mother Missing For A Week
Thu, September 29, 2016
The last time Julie Salazar saw her mother, Cruz Pu, known as Maria, was on Friday morning. Before she left for work, Julie said everything seemed normal, however, when she got home that night, "mom" was nowhere to be found. It's been a week and no word and today she told us why she is worried:

Julie Salazar - Daughter of missing woman
"When I got home Friday evening from work I noticed that the shop was closed and she wasn't home. So I called her and no answer. The next day calling, calling and no answer none at all. I went to the police station on Saturday evening to put in a missing person report. Then on Saturday night the police called me and said that they got information that my mother crossed the border Saturday evening. And to me it's really weird because my mother never leaves home without telling anyone anything about where she would go. And I'm really worried because it's not something that she would do. She wouldn't go nowhere without leaving her kids."

Pu, a fruit and vegetable vendor in Ladyville, contacted her niece in Guatemala asking her to meet at the border, however, she did not show up there. Since Pu is an adult who seemed to have left the country on her own free will, the police cannot do anything more to find her. For now, her family and friends will have to wait for her to cross back over to Belize and hope that she is safe.
