PM, Is This His Last Budget?
Mon, March 13, 2017
So is it true, will the PM really walk away before the next budget is presented in February or March of next year? He's been dropping some strong hints about his imminent departure, and today he told us that he simply doesn't know:...

Jules Vasquez, 7News
"Is this the last budget speech that you will be reading as prime minister?"

Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow, Prime Minister
"I don't know. I don't have any particular plan to leave before the budget next year. But I don't really know."

Jules Vasquez, 7News
"Sir, the Leader of the Opposition has accused very pointedly of making up figures. He says that you are cooking the books."

Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow, Prime Minister
"No but, unfortunately we are going to be moving to the surplus that we are projecting, because of course we've had to engage in very painful cost cutting measures and the revenue raising measures. That's the long and short of it."

"We are perfectly certain that our projections are legitimate. Look, these figures are come-up with between the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance. In particular Joe Waight from the Ministry of Finance and Marion Palacio. These are not people are who are going to engage in any sleight of hand."

We'll have much more from the budget presentation and the house meeting later on in tonight's news.
