LASER LITHOTRISPY
Tue, June 13, 2017
For decades, getting a kidney stone removed in Belize meant getting cut. But, new technology has been developed to allow doctors to send a camera equipped with a laser through a patient's body to break the kidney stones down, but until recently the nearest hospitals that could perform that procedure are in Merida or Guatemala City. Because the new laser surgery does not require any incisions to be made in the body, patients are typically able to get the procedure done, and go back home all in the same day.
