Well, possession of small amounts of marijuana has been de-criminalized and the world hasn't ended, not yet at least.

But, the Attorney General’s Ministry is opening up to more consultation on the subject.  Now you might say this is closing the stable door after the horse has bolted, but it’s for wider CARICOM consideration.  

A release issued this evening says that the AG’s Ministry has teamed up with CARICOM’s Regional Commission on Marijuana, for a day of “National Consultations by way of Focus Group meetings on the 23rd November at the Biltmore Plaza from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Â 

The Consultations are geared at, first, “Conducting rigorous enquiries into the social, economic, health and legal issues surrounding marijuana use in the Caribbean; and second, determining whether there should be a change in the current drug classification of marijuana. The findings of this consultation will be submitted to the Heads of CARICOM.

The Chair of the Regional Commission on Marijuana will attend along with three other commissioners and two representatives from the CARICOM Secretariat.

There will also be input from Law Enforcement Legal Practitioners Faith Based Organizations and others.
