Would Auditor General Do An Even Deeper Dig?
Wed, December 6, 2017
And the Auditor General wants to see exactly what will happen after the Senate Select Committee completes its report. That's what she said after she was asked if she is interested in going back into the Immigration Department for a full audit for the last 7 years. She said that if nothing comes of it, then it will be an exercise in futility:

Hon. Osmany Salas - NGO Senator
"Do you think that it is time to do a full investigation from the period of 2011 when you started this to the current?"

Dorothy Bradley, Auditor General
"I want to be honest."

Hon. Osmany Salas - NGO Senator
"Yes, please."

Dorothy Bradley, Auditor General
"For me, it all hinges on what comes out from this because there is a lot of information presented and if nothing happens then a 100 more of the same will mean what? That's what I ask myself. So, it is not to say that we will not go back and do an audit or continue an audit but really from the auditing standpoint, as we do a compliance audit, it lends to two different assurances. I can provide a reasonable assurance that things went really wrong or I can provide you a limited assurance. And the limited assurance would be based on the quantity of information we examine which, if you are to compare, you can say is limited. But out of that limited information, we got enough information to provide to this committee reasonable assurance that things went really wrong in Immigration."
