The Belize Audubon Society will be launching its Environmental Agenda
to mark Earth Day 2008. It’s the center piece of a week of activities,
and Tanya Williams Thompson explained to us that just like the change of government
– an environmental agenda is launched every five years.
Tanya Williams-Thompson, Advocacy Director – BAS
“The agenda provides analysis of critical environmental topics, it
identifies issues and concerns, and provides recommendations. The topics range
from climate change to tourism etc. We want to make sure that when government
is developing the national and development policy for Belize, the environmental
agenda, the recommendations, are taken into consideration.”
The agenda launch is tomorrow’s big event, and the Audubon will
also donate 1000 mahogany trees with the launch of a new green campaign.
