Port Mortem Says British Tourist Died from Head & Chest Trauma
posted (December 30, 2008)

The same procedure given to save the life of thirty five year old British tourist Victoria Jane Harmer contributed to her death. That is the disturbing result of the post mortem conducted on Monday by Chief Pathologist Dr. Mario Estradabran. Police say the examination revealed that Victoria Jane Harmer died as a result of head trauma and rupture chest trauma caused by the CPR administered.

When 7NEWS contacted Benque Police to find out whether or not anyone no would be charged in connection to the death we were informed that a case file is now being prepared to be handed over to the Director of Public Prosecutions and it will be up to the DPP to decided if anyone should be held responsible. But exactly who performed the procedure that contributed to the death is anybody’s guess. According to the police it is difficult to pin point who did the CPR because when the emergency occurred there were more than one person who tried to save Victoria Harmer’s life.

On December twenty sixth Victoria Harmer was along with a group of seven tourists, five women and two men, tubing on the Mopan River around three thirty that evening when she encountered problems. According to forty four year old Canadian tourist and a member of the group Carole Nader after Vicky passed a current upon nearing Clarissa Falls Resort she fell off the tube. Harmer was taken out of the water and CPR was administered.

According to Benque Police most of the tourists if not all by now have already left the country as they were only passing through Belize on their way from Mexico to Guatemala and were scheduled to leave the country on December twenty seventh.
