BEL boss Stan Marshall and the man who controls the majority holdings in Telemedia
Michael Ashcroft have bitterly criticized the government for what they say is
regulatory mismanagement and administrative incompetence. And now the embittered
investors have formed an alliance that could have a significant effect on the
future of telecommunications in Belize.
In a joint release, the companies today announced that they have started installing
a fibre optic cable along the 115 kv transmission line between Belize City and
Belmopan.
It will be BTL's second fibre optic line to Belmopan and it comes at
a cost of $4 million. The companies say it is part of its overall expansion plan.
The project will finish in April of 2009.
