If you are a writer, poet, or musician looking to get your book published
or song recorded – there is now somewhere that you get done for free –
or at least almost for free. The place is BelizeanArtwork.com
which is the website and the name of a new company started by the brother and
sister duo of Kendoyll and Tiffany Simpson. Their first project was Norman Rodriguez’s
poetry book “Glances” which was launched last month. Tiffany Simpson
told us how other musicians and writers can similarly benefit.
Tiffany Simpson, Belizeanartwork.com
“We are Belizean artists as you know and we have had the same problems
that other Belizean artists face for a number of years. We have good quality
work but it is very expensive to get it out there and I think it is a sin against
God to return to your grave and not share with the world your imagination and
skills. And over the last couple of months a lot of you know that we have had
a lot of opportunities that came our way and we just want to share some of those
opportunities with the rest of Belize in an effort to make our community a better
place.”
Keith Swift,
What are you interested in publishing or recording?
Tiffany Simpson,
“To be honest with you just books and CDs. If you want to do a cook
book, a poetry book, a novel, you want to do a audio CD where you just maybe
you talk lessons or whatever it is or music CDs, we are willing to publish it
for you.”
Keith Swift,
How are the revenues shared?
Tiffany Simpson,
“Well it is depending on what exactly your publication is. It will
differ from artist to artist but we are not in this to like exploit anybody
but we just want to see Belizean artists get their work out there.”
Keith Swift,
Is it free?
Tiffany Simpson,
“Yes it is free. That is what we mean by funding it. It is free, you don’t
have to pay anything.”
Keith Swift,
There is also a website component. Talk to me about that.
Tiffany Simpson,
“Belizeanartwork.com is a community driven media sharing network.
It has properties similar to Hi5 and MySpace and Youtube and what we do, we
encourage people to sign up to the network and to invite their family and friends
to join to upload their photos music and videos. You can sign up for a personal
artist or group artist account and you can ask them to rate your profile so
that we and everybody else can see what is other’s reviews on the work
that you do.”
Again that website is Belizeanartwork.com.
