Whenever we receive news that the youngest patients at the KHMH are
recipient of gift packages it is usually adults doing the kind gesture but this
morning we met a large group of children no older than six years older carrying
bags of treats for their peers recovering at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
The boys and girls are from St. Luke’s Methodist Primary School and because
of their age they were unable to visit the children’s ward but the visit
which was also to commemorate children’s day was heart warming to say
the least and no doubt brought some smiles to those boys and girls at the KHMH
who are not feeling well at this time.
Carol Martin, Teacher – St. Luke’s Methodist
“For many years we’ve been celebrating Children’s Day
inside the school but we thought about the children inside the hospital today
and we said why not take gifts to them so they can also have an opportunity
to see what Children’s Day is like.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
“So what gifts are in that bag?”
Carol Martin,
“We have school supplies, books, colouring books, pencils, a little
toy for boy or girls.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
“And what’s the importance of Children’s Day?”
Carol Martin,
“Just so children feel that they are important and that they are special.”
And we are sure for the twenty five children at the KHMH who received
their bag of gifts they felt extra special today.
