He told people he’s a graphic designer who specializes in customized
t-shirts, but from the slew of charges that have been brought against him, it
seems 34 year old Artemio Acosta was little more than a con man with designs
on other people’s money. And the “people” in this case, his
victims, were almost always schools.
Last week Acosta was charged with 10 counts of obtaining property by deception
in Belize City Magistrate’s Court. He’s accused of collecting money
from persons in Ladyville, Maskall and Lucky Strike to put designs on t-shirts
and then never delivering the products. He pleaded not guilty.
According to reports, he was today arraigned in Corozal Magistrate Court for
more counts of obtaining property by deception for allegedly collecting money
from several primary and secondary schools in the Corozal District for printed
T shirts which again, they claim he didn’t deliver.
