25 year old Micah Lee Williams was wanted by the law last week – after
he escaped in a high speed chase and shootout with police. He went to court
today charged with drug trafficking. Williams pleaded not guilty and Magistrate
Albert Hoare denied him bail. Williams showed the Magistrate a bullet wound
in his right shoulder; he told the court that the bullet is still lodged there.
The Magistrate ordered that he be taken to the hospital.
His brother Denroy Williams and Shawn Whittaker were both charged for drug
trafficking last week. Police clam that last week Tuesday night, they tried
to intercept a pickup at the Hattieville checkpoint – but it failed to
stop. They started to chase it and claim that the men in the truck opened fire.
They say that a sack containing eighteen pounds of marijuana was also thrown
out of the pickup. Though he was shot Williams managed to escape after a high
speed pursuit.
