Two men have been charged for killing 16 year old Raheem Velasquez in Roaring
Creek Village. They are 20 year old Darren Banner and 19 year old Jaime Gill.
Both have been arrested and charged for murder. The teenager was shot multiple
times on Sunday night near his home in a murder that his family and friends
say was a revenge killing.
In other police news of note, police have still not detained any suspects for
the murder of Kashif Jeffries. They are also looking for the Ford Explorer that
his killers drove in. That vehicle is of interest because multiple reports say
that on Sunday afternoon it was seen cruising around the city with the men inside
randomly firing shots. At least one other shooting is linked to the Explorer.
Police however say they cannot be sure if the same vehicle was involved in all
the shooting.
And, there was also a wild shooting incident on the northern highway last night
in the area of mile one and a half when police say men in two vehicles were
racing down the road firing at each other. No one was reported injured in that
case.
