It was a case of theft of funds from the city council that was reported months ago - but police had to make sure that the case was airtight - so after consultation with the audit department, they are ready to charge the employees.
Farah Jones is accused of misappropriating $30,191 Belize dollars and Marvin James is accused of the same for 31,265 dollars. The City Administrator told police that the misappropriation was allegedly spearheaded by Keera Ford an employee of the Council who had access to the Administrative Tax System. Ford manipulated the system by voiding and back dating receipts of payments made for Liquor License, Trade License, and Property Taxes. Police have recovered $13,375.00 in proceeds from the scam.
