On last night's newscast we told you about 35 year old Jobie Yorke - the resident of Mahogany Heights who was ordered to be remanded to prison. He was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm for which bail cannot be offered at magistrate's court.
We saw him get on the prison bus at 4:00 pm, and we reported that he was remanded. But what we didn't and couldn't know was that his attorney Leisje Barrow got bail from the Supreme Court close to 5:00 pm. So, instead of being put in jail when he got to the prison, he was released on that bail. Yorke called us from home last night to say that he was not in jail.
The well known promoter - who has no prior record - declined an interview today but he did tell us told us that the allegation that he pulled a gun on his neighbor is untrue. He says police searched his home and did not find any weapon.
He said he awaits the opportunity to clear his name in court.....
