According to an article in an international trade journal the Big Creek Port will be undergoing a major upgrade.
The report states that Banana Enterprises Limited will invest 30 million belize dollars in construction of a berthing facility, a deck barge, upgrading of existing berths, additional equipment, deepening of the existing channel, and replacement of maritime buoys and navigation markers.
Works on the berth, barge and channel deepening are slated to begin within the first twelve with $8Million dollars in spending.
The Port of Big Creek is the only port in Belize where cargo vessels can pull right up to the mainland.
