24 year old Niki Pinkard was gun down on Jasmine Street around 9 o'clock last night. Pinkard was returning to his in-law's house after buying drinks with some friends.

As he exited his vehicle he was confronted by an armed masked man, dressed in full black - who fired two shots at him. The gunman then left off on a bicycle that was parked near a fence. For this mother - she is still left in shock- since she had been on the phone with her son -just a few minutes before he was shot dead.

"I was at home when they call me about 9:30 and told me that my son got shot, so I just went to the hospital to see what was happening."

"And by that time he was already dead."

Jennifer Pinkard - Mother
"Yes, when I got there he was already dead."

Monica Bodden
"Now you told me that you and Niki were communicating last night right?"

Jennifer Pinkard - Mother
"Yes ma'am, he calls me just about 8 O'clock to let me know that he is coming up to Boom tomorrow and to let me know that he loves me."

"What do you understand happen last night?"

Jennifer Pinkard - Mother
"Well, I don't know what to say, that he was just with his girl family and he all ways goes there, with his girl family and they are always loving and they all would be together as a family and I just understand that he was in the yard somewhere around and somebody past by and fired a shot and he got shot."

There is speculation that the shooting of Niki Pinkard - might have been a form of retaliation for the death of Geovanni Lauriano - who was murdered just a couple hours earlier. It is said that the two men had -beef - for some time now.

Pinkard is a well know affiliate of the George Street gang and the area he was gunned down - is the same area where Geovanni Laurion Nose is known to hang out.

But for his mother - there was no way her son could have been involved in the shooting of Lauriano… since she was communicating with him ALL EVENING.

"Well I don't think so because, where he was and to where I heard the news before he called me that somebody got shot in Hattiville. He was in Belize, he called me from Belize somewhere in St. Martin's area where he girlfriend family lives, and if it was so, he wouldn't have been where this young man hang out area is, he would have been maybe in his own home area, so I don't think that he was Involved in that."

And once again this mother leaves Justice to God.

"I leave everything to God, because the Bible says vengeance is mine and I would never ever think about doing anything, or think about doing anything, because God is in control of my life."

Police have no suspects for this murder, either.

If Pinkard's name or face seem familiar, that's because in June of 2008, he and two other persons were charged with possession of half a pound of PE 4, a plastic explosive - the British equivalent of C4, widely known as one of the world's deadliest explosives.

Pinkard was cleared of that charge in December of 2008 because the police officer who made the bust didn't show up to testify.
