Pretend Police Charged
posted (July 19, 2010)
He was a play-play policeman but according to court reports, 20 year old Aaron Wilson sure played the part convincingly, and, in fact, he had the whole department duped!

The 20 year is accused of impersonating a special constable. The details are still coming to light and even police aren't quite sure how he perpetrated the fraud so thoroughly without being detected - but it is confirmed that Wilson - who was no kind of police at all - was acting as a special constable in the Eastern division.

And not only acting, he had the full outfit, including the police cap with a star, two police department belts, two pants, one wind breaker and a police I-D card.

He was charged with 6 offences when he appeared in the #1 Magistrate's court today.

Two of the offences are indictable - meaning they are more serious and will have to be heard at the Supreme Court. Those are the charges for forgery and possession of an official document, namely a police identification card.

Because they are indictable no plea was taken.

The other charges include theft of a cell phone from Sharon Martinez, aggravated assault of an indecent nature on a 19 year old female, threatening words to Malcom Vasquez and being in unlawful possession of Belize police department accoutrements - meaning the outfit.

He pleaded not guilty to those charges.

The prosecution objected to bail because he might interfere with the complainants and had allegedly threatened one before. Chief Magistrate Margaret Mckenzie upheld the objection and he was remanded into custody for a week.

And it all fell apart for him when Shannon Martinez made a report.

She reported to the police that on Friday evening, she was at BTL Park on Newtown Barracks when Wilson, who was dressed in police uniform and was in a private vehicle, offered her a ride. She said she accepted the offer and directed Wilson to take her to the house of a friend, Malcolm Vasquez, located on 5581 Princess Margaret Drive.

She said she and Vasquez got into an argument when she arrived and Wilson threatened to shoot him. She said Wilson then drove her to her house and upon arrival caressed her thigh. Police detained Wilson while he was still wearing the police uniform. When they checked into his police background, they realized that he had no police file - all he had really, was the uniform and the ID.
