Major Music Video Director In Belize
posted (July 23, 2010)
You might not know the name "Phillip Atwell" but if you've watch music videos anytime in the last ten years or so, we're sure you've seen his work.

He's the director - slash - producer who has worked on videos such as Eminem's "My Name Is" and "Just Lose It", "In Da club" from 50 cent, "Welcome to my life" by simple plan, and even videos by Marilyn Manson.

Tonight, He's here in Belize sharing his knowledge and dropping the science on aspiring video producers in a workshop by the Belize International Film Festival. We spoke to Atwell today, as he told us that he doesn't consider himself a teacher.

Phillip Atwell, Producer/Director
"I really consider myself teaching them but I am just more I think sharing information and knowledge about the process of film making, the process of going about effectively shooting a good music video with some of the basic element of the trade."

Emaun Hyde
"You are a big time producer, you produce video from Eminem to Marilyn Manson. How does it feel giving back to such a small community?"

Phillip Atwell
"It feels good because it feels like, there is a lot of people who say they want information and I feel like here there is a need for information and a lot of people have access in the ststes to so many different avenues and arenas to gain information be it from a university or trade school and I am aware that Belize doesn't have that kind of program so this is opportunity that other fil makers can meet film makers who have like done projects and ask all the questions that they would like to ask, so its pretty cool."

Emaun Hyde
"Do you think that you are making a difference and if so how does it feel?"

Phillip Atwell
"I don't know if I am making a difference, I guess I am just part of the process. Every one hopes that when they do something that it makes a difference and we'll see if some of these guys walk away from this workshop and actually implement some of the things we talk about then it was a success."

The workshop began yesterday and will conclude tomorrow.
