Just days before his party's well publicized National Convention scheduled for this Sunday, August 1st, in Orange Walk, the Prime Minister of Belize, the Honorable Dean Barrow has taken an unexpected leave of absence from office. The Prime Minister flew out to Miami, Florida today, and a press release from the Government's Press Office says the P.M. has taken personal leave until Saturday, July 31st, when he is expected to return from the United States. No word on the purpose of his visit but our sources tell us that the Prime Minister will be present at the United Democratic Party's convention this Sunday. In his absence, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Honorable Gaspar Vega will act as Prime Minister.
