Cop Stabbed, Robbed Of Weapon In Crazy Brawl

A policeman was almost killed in a bar brawl in St. Margaret's Village a week ago. It happened last week Saturday night at 11:55 when things got out of hand at Hilleview Bar in St. Margaret's and the owner Antonio Borland went to call police to assist him to close down the bar.

Constable Maurice Castillo attached to the special patrol unit and a BDF soldier accompanied Borland and shut it down. But two men got into a fight and the constable and the soldier tried to break it up.

That's when the departing patrons swarmed and overpowered the lawmen. Constable Castillo fell to the ground he was viciously stabbed five times, including twice to the chest and once in the head. And after that, they stole his service .38 revolver.

Though police did not report it, Castillo was critical for a few days at the Western Regional Hospital. He was released today which is also when Police formally arrested and charged 8 men for Attempted Murder, Use of deadly means of Harm and Dangerous Harm.

They are 18 year old Marcelo Hernandez, 19 year old Angel Hernandez, 23 year old Marco Cordon, 25 year old Alexander Cordon, and a 16 year old minor all of St. Margaret's Village along with 20 year old Moses Orellano, 20 year old Alfaro Garcia, of mile 25 Hummingbird Highway and 20 year old Isua Polanco of Longbank, in Stann Creek Valley. Jesse Polanco is also wanted in connection with this incident.
