Convicted Rapist Gomez Gets Off
posted (September 7, 2010)
Two charges, attempted rape and robbery, were dismissed from convicted rapist 24 year old Leroy Gomez today in the court of Justice Adolph Lucas.

The charges were dismissed by Justice Lucas after the complainant, a 28 year old housewife, testified that she cannot remember what happened.

But although Gomez was discharged he was not freed because he is serving 18 years for robbery, another rape conviction and aggravated assault.

Gomez was convicted of those offences on August 9.

The incident for which today's charges were dismissed occurred around 3a.m on August 30, 2008.

The complainant reported to the police that she was riding on her bicycle on her way home and when she reached the corner of Lacroix Street and Police Street she was accosted by a man who came behind her on a bicycle.

She said that the man stood behind her and put a knife to her throat. She said the man pulled down her underwear and tried to rape her but she physically resisted him.

She said the man then stole five dollars from her and she ran.

The man then began to pursue her, she said, but she was saved by a man in a vehicle who came to her assistance. Gomez was not represented by an attorney.
