As we showed you last night, there's a new sherriff in town - or something like that as the crime ridden eastern division has its first new officer commanding in two years.
Assistant Commissioner Elodio Aragon takes over as one of the youngest ever to lead the most difficult division.
And though he has a master's degree in criminology - apart from his experience in Punta Gorda - he hasn't had much experience in leading a tough division.
Yesterday he shrugged off the whole battle hardened thing and said approach not experience is what counts:

"When you talk about experience but they are doing the wrong things for so many years. I might not have the amount years but when it comes to the experience I believe I do have the experience necessary to come to Belize City as OCED and to make a difference. You know we for time we have been doing the same thing and such we have always been getting the same results, we need to begin to look differently at the problem at hand and to begin to be innovative and begin to look at new measures and tactics and strategy as to how we go about dealing with the crime situation. I am coming here as one of the youngest officer commanding Eastern Division and I am here supported by also young senior officers. But believe me I think the young people are energetic right here and coupled with the people who are experience and senior I believe we make a good theme to make things happen in Belize City."
