Carnival Road March is only 3 days away - which means time is ticking down for the Jam Jam Carnival Band. As we reported on yesterday's newscast - their costumes were vandalized by intruders early Monday morning. Both their queen and king custumes were destroyed. But for this carnival group of 4 years - that is not enough to break their carnival spirit - and so with that said - a number of their revelers hit the city streets this morning on a money drive - in hopes of making enough to redo their costumes. Seven News caught up with the group on Queen Street.

Alicia Yorke, Band Member
"As they can see that they cut up our costume yesterday morning and we are trying to ask for a little donation to try and fix it back before carnival day. Anything will work; 5 cents; 25 cents, 1 dollar; 2 dollars, we just want fix it up before carnival day Saturday."

Monica Bodden
"I know you guys just started out on the money drive. How has it been so far?"

Alicia Yorke, Band Member
"Well we just came out about 11 O' clock and it is going good so far. We got over $30. Thank God."

Monica Bodden
"How many of you guys actually are taking the streets today?"

Alicia Yorke, Band Member
"About 8 of us. The rest have not come out yet."

Monica Bodden
"How much cash you guys need for the costumes to get them done in time for carnival?"

Alicia Yorke, Band Member
"Well about $1,000- $2,000 cause we lost over $4,000 when they cut up the costume. With the white queen we need cloth, sequence, icicles and the king we need a lot."

Monica Bodden
"And the overall gold for this initiative is how much?"

Alicia Yorke, Band Member
"Well at least $2,000. we are having a barbeque at the mas camp Friday for the support in the king and queen costume."

Monica Bodden
"Tickets are for how much?"

Alicia Yorke, Band Member
"We got different prices. We got fish, chicken, lobster, sausage and pork."

Monica Bodden
"So people can just stop by on Friday. What time is it going to be ready?"

Alicia Yorke, Band Member
"From in the morning like around 10 or 11 am."

Monica Bodden
"Any last words?"

Band Member
"Well like the saying says that disappointment are for the better so I know we are going to take first place this year."

Band Member
"We are still happy and we will still come out like a Taliban, like an energizer max so we don't worry about anything."

The Barbeque will be held on Friday at Jam Jam's carnival camp on Pickstock Street. If you are interested in making a donation towards the costumes you can contact Band Leader - Alma Gabourel at - 663-6195.
