Palm Island Nightclub Targetted By Armed Men
posted (September 23, 2010)
One of Belize City's most popular night sports was targeted in a coordinated attack by armed gunmen early Wednesday morning.

It happened around 3:45 am at Palm Island on the northern highway after the Independence day partying was finished. Owner of the nightclub John Paul Curly was escorting three customers out when he saw four masked men armed with guns and knives who ordered them back inside the building. The robbers snatched the men's personal items including cell phones, cash and jewelry. They also grabbed liquor from the bar. But they wanted the big money and demanded that Curly tell them where his safe is.

He directed them to the kitchen where they forced him to open the safe. Inside they found fifteen thousand Belize dollars and 8 thousand US dollars, a total of 31 thousand. He was tied up and the men escaped in a maroon car. Police later found a maroon Buick Rendezvous in Frederick's alley which is off Hyde's lane.
