The coast guard has called off the search for 25 year old fisherman Barrington Gomez.
This evening, Lieutenant Gregory Soberanis confirmed that they have notified Gomes' family Gomes that the search ended today.
Gomes was at sea with fisherman Edmund Forte and watchman Arturo Gilharry when their boat failed near the Bluefield Range. The men were caught directly in the path of Hurricane Richard that ripped through Central Belize later that same day.
Since then the Coast Guard recovered the lifeless body of Gilharry. Forte managed to survive by clinging to a piece of lumber on which he drifted to Spanish Look Out Caye two days after the storm.
