posted (November 1, 2010)
A teenager will spend a year in jail for stealing a cell phone.

Eighteen year old Francisco Rodriquez an unemployed of 20 Wilson Street charged with theft of a cell phone valued at five hundred dollars, was sentenced to the year imprisonment today after he pleaded guilty.

Although it was Rodriquez's first conviction, Magistrate Emmerson Banner imposed the prison sentence because Rodriquez did not show any remorse.

The theft occurred on Thursday October 28. The complainant, Shakira Young reported to the police that she was walking on Central American Boulevard and when she reached the corner of Mahogany Street and Central America Boulevard, Rodriguez grabbed at her bag in which she had her black Motorola cell phone. She said a struggle ensued between her and Rodriguez but Rodriquez escaped taking her bag with the cell phone with him. Police later caught Rodriguez and charged him.
