Well now two of the men who police caught red handed have been sentenced to jail!

Nineteen year old Tevin Abraham, one of two persons charged with the robbery of a firearm from a security guard at Atlantic Bank, was found guilty of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery today in the #8 Magistrate's Court.

Magistrate Emmerson Banner sentenced him to five years for robbery and one year for conspiracy to commit robbery with the stipulation that the sentences are to run concurrently 0 which means he will only serve 5 years.

Abraham was also charged with firearm and ammunition charges. But he was found not guilty of those charges because from the evidence the police weren't sure which firearm they saw him throw way.

The second defendant 18 year old Tyrone Westby, who didn't appear in court for trial, was found guilty ex-parte. Westby was sentenced to 6 years for robbery, 18 months for conspiracy to commit robbery and two years for keeping ammunition without a gun license.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m on March 11 at Atlantic Bank Branch at the corner of Magazine and Cemetery Roads. Security Guard Francis Lewis testified that Abraham pointed a rusty firearm at his head and told him to run it and a struggle ensued between them.

Lewis said Westby wrested away his firearm with ten rounds of ammunition in it.

Both assailants ran when the second security guard, Leroy Young appeared and fired shots at them which is when Westby was shot in his arm.

Both Westby and Abraham ran right into a police vehicle which was approaching on Magazine Road.
