Savery’s Family Complains
posted (November 12, 2010)
Yesterday evening the funeral for Eric Savery Lewis - known as Ghetto Fab - was held with a heavy police presence. It was no ordinary funeral procession through the streets of the City - there were a number of patrol teams deployed all along the route. Well that was expected since Savery was a known associate with the Rocky Road Gang - but what the family didn't expect was to be pushed around at the funeral of their loved one. They told Seven news that they were out right disrespected by Police.

Grace, Family of Ghetto Fab
"We don't have any problem with the police but when we left from the church, our route was through Pen Road, when we get between Pen Road and Kraal Road we see the grey Hilux park in Kraal Road - the lane by Kraal Road. A red truck was at the end of the funeral, we were like the second car before end of the funeral. The red truck put on siren and the grey truck just come and pull up between my vehicle and the vehicle that my brother was in. They told him to get out; they need to search this vehicle. They ran out and crank up their gun, the BDF crank up his big gun and we had a problem with that so we jump out of our vehicle to go and assist my brother and my nephew that were in the vehicle. They told him that they want to search them so he declare that he had his licensee gun, and he show them his license and they didn't want to see that. They rough up my brothers who have gunshot wounds in his back and different parts of his body, it was a big commotion out there, we were there for like 15 minutes while the police was searching, after that they told him that they will take the weapon and he must go to the police station for it. He says that he is not worrying about the weapon, we will continue with our funeral. That is disrespect, we have a death, if they wanted to deal with us they could have waited until we reach at the burying ground, don't stop us through Pen Road, where a lot of the enemy live to endanger our lives. We are not happy with that, we are not happy about the police behavior yesterday."

The licensed firearm that was taken away from Flower's nephew was later given back to him by police at the cemetery. Savery Lewis was executed in the city last week Friday not far from his West Canal home.
