Espejo Makes His case Against Perdomo
posted (November 15, 2010)
The date is set; on December fifth constituents of Caribbean Shores will be going to the polls to select their new standard bearer. The convention will be contested between incumbent Carlos Perdomo and Councilor Roger Espejo. Two weeks ago on this newscast you heard Carlos Perdomo say that Espejo had promised not to contest him in the convention; well today Espejo who is an official contestant in the race said it's not really so because he had always had his eyes set on representation at a national level:

Roger Espejo, Councillor
"We never categorically pledged. As a matter of fact I dislike making promises of any sort, I always tell people we will try our best to get it done and most of the times we do. We apologize for any misconceptions that there may have been and that's as far as that goes, we never pledged such a thing, I for one knew running for local municipal office a year and a half ago that I would want to one day serve at a higher level. I understand that the incumbent had suggested some time ago that the political experience is not there which I may readily embrace, I in fact don't think that it's a bad thing to bring little political baggage, I believe that's a good thing, I don't necessarily see it as a strength, I know that what really counts is the way you administrate, the way you lead and the inspiration that you emit to your followers. So political baggage we are not worried about, I do have experience in the private sector, I also have experience now at the Belize City Council and when it comes to political strategy as I have mentioned in some media interviews, we both have the similar amount of wins under our belt so that's talking about political strategy. But the people don't want to know about political strategy, they want to know what ideas you have, the kind of work ethic that you are going to bring; good old fashioned clean governance. As far as divides go again that's only natural and normal to these conventions. Mr. Perdomo has some support, I have some support but what's for more important than that is the support of the people and the voice of the people."

The convention will be held at the Trinity Methodist School in Caribbean Shores Constituency.
