Thirty four year old tutor, Andrew Lord, who was charged with aggravated assault of an indecent nature on his ten year old female student, was found guilty of the charge on Friday November 12.
Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser remanded him into custody until yesterday for sentencing.
Because he had no previous conviction, she fined him $1,500 instead of a custodial sentence which could have been as much as two years.
Lord was given until January 15, 2010 to pay the fine.
If he defaults on payment, he will serve 3 months.
The incident occurred on April 8th, 2010 at Lord's residence on Elston Kerr Street.
The child, who is now 11, testified in closed court that while Lord was tutoring her, he rubbed his person behind her and caressed her leg and midsection.
Lord testified and denied he committed the offence.
He said that the girl's mother set up the child to make up the story be cause he had spurned the mother's advances.
