Corozal will have its own state of the art operating theater. Ground was broken for the million dollar facility today.
The venture is a collaborative effort with international partners, and the Prime Minister said it's all about networking.

"In a globalize increasingly interdependent world it must be clear to all of us that Belize cannot operate, Belize cannot prosper on its own and these Millennium Development Goals, one of which certainly what is happening this morning helps us to draw closer to realize have been set by the international community of which Belize is a part. I am happy to say therefore that this morning's event is in one sense a tribute to Belize's full participation in the international processes and is as well recognition of the role that Belize plays in the international community on the world stage."
Construction is expected to commence immediately and the new operating theater should take about a year to complete.
