Alleged Home Invader Remanded
posted (November 23, 2010)
Eighteen year old Emmerson Reyes, one of two persons who the police believe committed a home invasion at the residence of 21 year old Hayton Lino, was charged with aggravated burglary when he appeared today in Magistrate's Court.

Reyes pleaded not guilty to the charge. Bail was denied because it is a firearm offence. He remanded Reyes into custody until December 23.

The incident occurred on Wednesday November 17th. Lino, a laborer residing at Belizean American Site in Hattieville, reported to the police that he heard a knock on his front door and when he opened it he saw Reyes and another man.

Lino said the man pulled out a 22 pistol, and clubbed him three times to the back of his head with it. Lino said Reyes then went into his room and took his wallet with one hundred and fifty dollars. He then allegedly ordered the gunman to shot him but he refused.

Reyes was detained by police on Sunday and the following day Lino identified him as one of the burglars in an identification parade.
