The city and nearby tourist sites were bustling today as five cruise ships made a call in Belize. That's a total of 15,007 cruise passengers between those ships and the surely single biggest day of the winter 2010 cruise season.
And while tour guides and businesses benefitted, one deck hand was very seriously inured. It happened this morning as one of the tenders was pulling up alongside a cruise ship. His hand was caught and mangled between the tender and the gangway of the cruise ship. He was rushed in and taken to the hospital. Reports are that the young man's hand was crushed from the wrist down and he may lose that hand.
