Margret Williams, Early Childhood Education Officer "We began in each district with the parade and we have urban and rural parades, then we have other special days we have days like hug day flags day, sports day and we do have a week set aside for pre-school children's festival of arts in each district as well I mean Belize City, ours will be at the Bliss Center for the performing arts, and it runs from the 14th to the 18th and then on the 19th we have the rural schools doing theirs, on just that special day, and then we have our closing activity which is the rally, that will be held at Bird's isle and we are inviting all our parents, all our supporters to come out and in other words, just come out and support all the activities that we are having."

"What is the importance of child stimulation month?"

"We believe that we need to get out there and create the kind of awareness about the importance of early childhood education and we are looking not only at the pre-school years, which for us is the two years and 9 months to the 4 years and 9 months but to span the whole early childhood areas which would be birth or before birth to eight, because we find out that if we start early there is a window of opportunity between birth and five when we can give the children all the skills that they need and we believe that if we can catch them within that period then, thing would happen, things would change, and what some of the problems we are having now, we would not be happen later on. So we are hoping to change the whole believes system of some off our parents that early childhood is not importance and for them so see and for them as parents, they have a roll that they most play."

The theme for this year's Child Stimulation month is "Parents, educate your child".
