Brakes Fail On a Tropic Air Plane
posted (April 1, 2011)
There was a minor accident with a Tropic Air single engine plane this morning at around 10:30 am at the City's municipal airstrip. Information coming out of Tropic Air is that the plane was landing when the brakes failed and the pilot had to pull over on the soft shoulder alongside the airstrip. No one was hurt - and images we got showed the wheels had been rutted in, as had the propeller. Tropic Air is investigating to determine if the plane got scheduled maintenance the night before in Punta Gorda Town while the Civil Aviation Department is conducting its own investigation.

The flight was coming from San Pedro with seven passengers on board. None of them were hurt.
