GSU Bust Weed On A Coastal Road Move
posted (June 1, 2011)
Police made a 20 pound weed bust this morning. It happened around 3:30 this morning on the Coastal Road when the GSU intercepted a pickup truck without license plates - between mile 6 and 7.

A male resident of Hattieville was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle -- scrambled out of the truck and dashed into the bushes. In the bed of the pickup truck police found a Crocus sack with 8.9 kilos or 19.6 pounds of loose marijuana.

The pick-up truck is in Police custody. According to Police, the driver is known to them as a drug supplier who distributes cannabis to gangs in Belize City. At the time of the bust, he was returning from the Toledo District where it is believed he purchased the drugs.

He is expected to be brought into custody by his attorney who has made contact with the Police and he will subsequently arrested and charged for drug trafficking.
