(Another) Bus Blockade Fizzles
posted (June 17, 2011)
This morning police were on high alert on the roadways once again - because of information that the Belize Bus Association intended to launch another highway shutdown - just like the one two weeks ago which paralyzed the country for the better part of a morning.

We also heard the news - and our team was out and about from four in the morning. But it was for naught; nothing happened - making it the second botched bus strike in a week. All we saw were Westline busses running as normal form the bus terminal on Collet Canal.

It seems the stepped up police presence was an effective deterrent and busses that were supposed to block roads - particularly in the north didn't come out.

In the end, no bus runs were interrupted and everything went according to schedule making it a non - event.
