Magistrate’s Have A Workshop
posted (June 24, 2011)
Belize's Judiciary continues to come under heavy criticism from the public for what the average Belizean says is a loss of confidence in the country's justice system. Today, that criticism was one of many concerns the country's Magistrates were meeting to discuss at the Radisson Fort George hotel. Heavy on the minds of the judges are those challenges it faces in the current climate of violence. Along with the public's lack of confidence, the magistrates are dealing with a slew of other pressing topics, including, those defendants who go unrepresented, concerns for juvenile defendants, Rules of Evidence, Vulnerable witnesses and Witness protection. The workshop which is sponsored by the Commonwealth Secretariat concludes tomorrow with closing remarks by the Attorney General.
