No Word From FIFA, No Movement From National Sports Council
posted (July 1, 2011)
The deadline for the National Sports Council and the Football Federation of Belize to have worked out their difficulties has come and gone without any resolution - and tonight - there is no official word from FIFA Headquarters in Switzerland. But we have seen a stormy letter sent by the Sports Council's attorney Rodwell Williams to the attorney for the FFB Elson Kaseke.

It seems Kaseke wrote to the FFB on the 28th June telling them that Williams had given an undertaking that once he has the FFB's 2010 statutes, the Sports Council will proceed expeditiously with the registration, no later than June 30th.

But Williams fired back a response, saying he promised no such thing, calling Kaseke's letter a gross misrepresentation of what happened in court. Williams said he only committed dot deliver the statutes immediately to the Sports Council; but gave no commitment on formalizing registration by June 30th. And indeed the Sports council could not convene meeting of its 13 members this week to consider the statutes - so the FFB remains de-certified this evening.

We now understand that Kaseke has launched a new line of attack on behalf of the FFB - and that is to question whether the Sports Council which took the decision to de-certify the FFB - was duly constituted. And so while the legal wrangle continues - the hopes for Belize playing the return match of a world cup qualifier falls further and further out of reach.
