The Football Federation of Belize and the National Sports Council are busy fighting in court but the National Selection - blighted as it is by controversy - is preparing for a World Cup Qualifier on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 at the Olympic Stadium in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
And, if a warm-up match last night is any indication, the team is primed to win.
The game was against Honduras' division 1 team, Marathon, and it was played at the Morazan stadium in San Pedro Sula. Belize delivered a punishing 3 to nothing defeat. In one of Honduras' leading newspapers, La Prensa, the headline read: Belize and Chelato humiliates Marathon referring to the National team's coach Chelato Ucles. According to La Prensa, Belize dominated the second half of the game where Elroy Kuylen, Luis Mendez and Daniel Jimenez scored all three goals for Belize. The victory was sweet for Belize if only because earlier in January of this year, Marathon had delivered the same humiliating 3-0 defeat to team Belize.
