National Assembly Goes Electronic, Sort Of
posted (August 19, 2011)
Earlier this week we told you about a website where you could listen to the entire proceedings of a special sitting of the Caribbean Court of Justice held via teleconference between the CCJ headquarters in Port of Spain Trinidad and a Supreme courtroom in Belize City. To our knowledge, that is the first time an electronic recording of any court session held in Belize has been made publicly available.

And now, a new website for the National Assembly of Belize makes sittings of the House and Senate widely available. Now, those are broadcasted and publicized ad naseum- so it's not as precious as the recording of a CCJ session, but for students, researchers and those who love to hear those classic uncut performances like Marcel Cardona's again and again, the site should have all that on its archives. Regrettably only the 2010 archives are posted right now. It also has minutes from committee meetings and information on the functions of the house, the standing orders and the customs of parliament.

The site is www.nationalassembly.gov.bz
