And as we close tonight we leave you with footage of the fireworks at the Memorial Park on independence eve.

It was a lovely sight as the fireworks went for almost half an hour...

They certainly lit up the night sky in a beautiful display at midnight...

Many of you may have been there or saw it live on channel 7,

But tonight, we take one last look...

National Kriol Council(NKC)
September 22, 2011

Press RELEASE

The NKC takes this opportunity, on behalf of all its branches -Belize, Stann Creek and Toledo - to register our condolences to the family and to our nation on the passing of the Father of our Belizean Independence the Rt. Hon George Cadle Price. Belize has lost its signature hero and the Kriol Council so records it.

Freedom means choosing your burden. (Hephzibah Menuhin). The Rt. Hon. George Cadle Price chose the burden of leading the struggle to Independence, and today we see the fruits of his labor.

The National Kriol Council thanks this signal son of the Belizean soil and mourn his passing, even as we remain inspired by the vision he inspired in all of us to always put service to country first.

May his soul rest in peace and rise in glory. Gaad bles Mista Price ahn Gaad bles Bileez. Sayka Mista Price, Bileez da wahn nayshan tudeh day![God bless Mister (Rt. Hon.) Price and God bless Belize. Because of him, Belize is a nation today.]

OCEANA IN BELIZE EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY OF FORMER PRIME MINISTER GEORGE CADLE PRICE

Mrs. Audrey Matura-Shepherd, Vice President of Oceana in Belize, and her entire staff extend their deepest condolences to the family of former Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. George Cadle Price.

We remember and respect his dedication to the establishment of Belize as an independent nation; his humility in his successes, and his sincerity and charisma in the drive for a "peaceful, constructive Belizean revolution."

Let us unite to continue the good work, and make Belize a land of true opportunity, justice and security.

Office of Honourable Florencio Marin, Jr.

Corozal South East Constituency

Ranchito Village, Corozal

It is with the greatest profound sadness that we in the Corozal South East division offer our condolences to the Price family and to Belize, on the passing of Rt. Honourable George Cadle Price. The Corozal South East division is especially proud to have been a part of Mr. Price's legacy since it has been the only division that has stayed true to his principles by supporting the PUP in all elections.

We fondly remember the Right Honourable visiting our division by sea by sail boat and by road in his famous Land Rover. In his last visit with us in November 2008, he rallied us by saying that "In adversity we don't give up, we continue to move on." And we so do today as we close the third decade of our Independence and enter into the fourth one, and we thank him for his sage advice and we continue despite adversity to promote his principles and words of service and social justice to guide us in this 21st Century.

Thank you, Father of the nation, for giving us something we can call our own, Belize!

On a personal note, the Marin family is especially saddened by this loss, but we are proud that our patriarch, Florencio, Sr., was a part of the legacy of Mr. Price. Long live Belize! Long live the legacy of George Cadle Price!
