Leon Leslie, the Teflon Lecturer, Proves Bulletproof To Charges
posted (November 9, 2011)
A University of Belize lecturer, charged with keeping a prohibited material, today left the Magistrate's court a free man for the second time.

As we've reported before, 28 year old Leon Leslie was charged on January 16th of this year after Police claimed they had found a bullet proof vest in his SUV.

But after the chief witness for the prosecution, Detective Constable Ivan Galvez couldn't get the serial numbers right on the vest they found in Leslie's vehicle, Magistrate Dorothy Flowers upheld a submission by Leslie's attorney, that his client had no case to answer.

The case was initially dismissed on July 20th, when Galvez had failed to appear to testify, but Leslie was subsequently re-arrested and charged. Leslie was defended by Attorney Ellis Arnold.
