GSU Busts Cocaine In Sewer Pipe
posted (November 10, 2011)
The Gang Suppression Unit has become known for its tough, relentless approach to criminal suspects - but today they took it to another level when they burst open a septic tank pipe to get out a stash of cocaine that had just been flushed down the toilet! Around 9:45 this morning, they descended on the five bedroom home of Caryl "Midget" Meighan on Mercy Lane in Belize City. While the GSU was at the door barking out the reason for the search, shuffling was heard inside the house, followed by the sound of flushing from inside the master bedroom's bathroom.

The GSU scrambled to the sewer pipe leading to the septic tank and smashed it open. Six small Ziploc bags containing 3.7 grams of suspected powder cocaine were retrieved from the broken pipe in the presence of the occupants.

A further search of the bathroom turned up another Ziploc bag with 0.4 grams of suspected powder cocaine on top of the wash basin. 26 similar bags all of them empty were found lying on the bathroom floor. Police also found $1,529.00 in cash in the master bedroom.

Occupying the room at the time were 48 year old Caryl "Midget" Meighan a City Council supervisor and his common-law-wife 39 year old Deborah Myvette a Housing and Planning Supervisor.

Both have been arrested and jointly charged with one count of Possession of a controlled drug and one count of drug trafficking. Following an Income Tax assessment of the money found resulted in the seizure of 764.50 to Government funds.

Deborah Myvette has a pending case before the court for similar charges after the GSU searched her West Street address on July 3 where a few grams of powder cocaine were also found.
