After A Lifetime in Belize, A Honduran Faces Deportation

A Honduran who has been living in Belize for more than 25 years is facing deportation tonight after an alleged altercation with Police.

Thirty three year old Honduran national Shirley Lambey, a domestic worker of 8888 Jane Usher boulevard was charged with failure to produce a visitor's permit when she appeared today in the number 5 Magistrate's court.

Lambey who has been living in Belize since she was 5 years old, pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined One Thousand dollars. She was unable to pay the fine and as a result was taken to prison to serve six months.

Lambey is subject to deportation after she has served her time. She was arrested by Immigration officers yesterday and charged with harm, following an incident with the police.
