The Aftermath: Dale Tillett clings to Life; 9 Year Old Family Lashes Out At 7
posted (January 4, 2012)
This evening at the KHMH, 19 year old Dale Tillett continues to cling to life at the KHMH.

Despite waves of rumors that he had died, at a few minutes to five, the KHMH public relations desk confirmed that he remains critical and on a ventilator.

As we reported, Renan Briceno Jr has been charged for his attempted murder - and Briceno was ordered to be remanded to prison.

Briceno - an employee of his family's phone company, Speednet - allegedly fired his licensed nine millimeter pistol into a crowd at Palm Island nightclub on Saturday morning and shot Dale Tillett in the head and Brandon Tillett in the foot.

That event is believed to be linked to an incomprehensible act of retaliation less than an hour later at the north end of George Street. That's where a gunman or gunmen kicked open the door of Michelle Myvette's home - where three females and a male child were sleeping. They opened fire on the bedrooms, killing 9 year old Aaron Myvett Pope and injuring his sister 17 year old Kadesha Saldano.

The funeral for Aaron Myvett Pope will be held tomorrow - but his family issued an angry statement today.

The statement condemns the media - naming Channel 7 - for quote "provoking accusation" and "demoralizing the family" to quote, "justify the crucifixion of such an innocent boy."

But the family says that, quote "the police and the media are insisting that the truth be tainted to close a case, to force a suspect to trigger the same fuel for a street war" end quote.

The statement then goes on to refer to quote "coward bullies of George Street that cried for peace," and adds that, quote, "if bullies cry for peace and still try to punk someone, and then murder an innocent boy...and the media try to imply that they made a mistake because they wanted someone else in the same household."

End quote.

We believe all this alludes to our question about the possibility that the gunmen could have been after one of the 9 year old's uncles who live at the same residence. The question was asked and it was answered by the child's mother. The question - in our view - had to be asked - because the cruelty and randomness of the killing seems to simply defy explanation.

The family statement adds that quote "gang related has nothing to do with this on our end."
