Palm Island Mgmt Says Shooting Not Their Fault
posted (January 4, 2012)
But if the truce fails, it will all go back to Saturday morning at the Palm Island nightclub.

That's where Brandon "BT" Tillett and Dale Tillett were shot. The two are no blood relation - but share the same last name and the same violent event - which was captured by a bystander on his cell phone.

And it all happened at Palm Island - the compound of which has been the scene of more than a couple crimes involving guns.

And now, management of that club has issued a release - disavowing any responsibility for the gunplay that erupted outside the club. It says that, quote, "we refuse to bear any responsibility for this unfortunate act. It is not in our power or in power of Belize City Police to prevent such a situation, a crime which is beyond common sense."

The release form Manager John Curly adds that there were five policemen present on the premises and, quote, "those policemen conduct a thorough check of all our guests coming in to make sure our guests feel safe."

It concludes: "the shooting happened after the club closed, when the guests were already leaving."

The release adds that it was the club's security - presumably meaning police - who captured the suspect.
